Escape into the French countryside

Les Galineaux was the perfect space to relax and wind-down after a busy year.
It is a beautiful, family-friendly house that provides for all needs, is equipped with everything and has enough space for all 10 people.
Being surrounded by vineyards and small towns with markets that occur each week, it is the perfect spot for any food and wine lover and a great opportunity to explore the French culture. The house itself is equipped with games such a croquet for the garden as well as a pool, which is a well-needed refreshment for the sunny weather.

Something I definitely recommend when visiting the Bergerac market is to stop by at the Go Karting on the way back for a couple of rounds of fun.

As a group, we spent the most mornings visiting the markets in nearby towns, then coming back to Les Galineaux for a refreshing swim, reading by the pool and playing croquet and then moving into the well-equipped kitchen to cook together.
We enjoyed our food outside on the terrace as the sun was colouring the garden golden with the last rays of light.

All in all, I loved my time in Les Galineaux and did appreciate the space and time it gave me to recharge my batteries.
The time we spent there flew by and I was rather sad to leave, but I am looking forward to returning again and in the meantime it is the memories I can return to in my mind.

Best holiday ever in beautiful house!

Had the most amazing time staying here! The house is so charming and has everything you could possibly want. The pool area is lovely and the countryside around the house is stunning. The location is perfect, minutes from the local town and delicious bakery, and not far at all from the bigger markets to discover! Had such lovely dinners sitting outside after cooking in the completely equipped kitchen! Couldn’t recommend more, you will not regret booking here!

A lovely rustic house with real character.

10 of us stayed for 9 days and had a super week together.
Firstly the house is a lovely stay, it has a naturally homely feel to it and a particularly lovely kitchen. However, considering the hot weather we spent a lot of our time outside, eating every meal outside and spending many afternoons by the pool. Nevertheless, the house never felt cramped even with 10 of us mucking in in the kitchen and whatnot.
Additionally the house is superbly situated, surrounded by lovely countryside that provides the feeling of a secluded retreat. However, within a radius of 10 - 30 minutes drive there's also plenty to do, leaving all of our group pleased. Those that wanted to relax in the sun at the house could, and yet there was still plenty to do for those who wanted. We visited a handful of wonderful French markets, notably the Sainte Foy Market, did a vineyard tour and went paddle boarding along the dordogne which was an afternoon well spent.

All in all it was a great holiday, the house is a homely stay and very comfortable even for 10 and the location ensures that all interests can be met.

We had a brilliant holiday!

A fabulous rustic house with full amenities in a great location. Ideal for a lazy break by the pool or to use as a base to visit many of the great things on offer in the Dordogne. Great food, great wine, golf, theme parks and a wonderful climate. What more could you want?

Belle maison spacieuse

A wonderful break in November sampling wines and fine food! 22 degrees, we ate outside - freezing and wet when we left London! St. Emilion and Pomerol so easy to get to, Bergearac well worth a visit. We loved your house, so spacious and nice and cosy with the fires going, comfortable and full of character. Will be in touch about dates in the summer. The kids will love it! Many thanks.

What a perfect break in this beautiful Farmhouse

The Farmhouse was packed full of rustic charm and very tastefully furnished. I felt there was a balance between maintaining original features while having a few modern luxuries such as a good shower and Smeg fridge! It was so peaceful, clean and well equipped. Having the bikes was a real bonus as we could get out and about. Great bargains to be had at the local markets and not too far from Bordeaux, where we spent a lovely day sightseeing before arriving at the house. Highly recommended.

Wonderful, relaxing rural retreat

We visited Les Galineaux with our family, brother and pregnant girlfriend, two children aged 7 and 9 and parents over the course of a fortnight. Gorgeous spot only ten minutes from a pretty town and huge supermarket nearby. Canoed down the Dordogne, visited various chateaux, vineyards and a lake with watersports for the kids. Lovely morning runs through the fields, beautiful medieval villages within a short drive and essentially a thoroughly relaxing stay. Well maintained, quiet and pretty villa.

“A great home for the family.”

A great home for the family. The house sleeps 10 and has plenty of space and plenty of character. Particularly liked the master bedroom. Newly fitted country style kitchen. It was 38c degrees when we were there and so it was nice to take a dip in the pool from time to time.

“I will return and explore the region further.”

Your typical French farm house. This is a very nice place to visit and a good location for all the nearby wine producers. I loved visiting St Emilion, Bergerac, the local market and driving around the vine yards in Pomerol. I will return and explore the region further.

"Lovely restaurants Le Huit and Victor Hugo were our favourites. Market day on a Saturday well worth a potter around."

Absolutely fantastic time had by all. House was beautiful, exceeded our expectations. Lots of space for us to chill both outside in the garden, playing chess and inside in front of the log burning fire with a glass or two of gorgeous French wine from nearby wineries. And cheese! Plenty of day trip opportunities. We'd recommend Bergerac, half an hour away, Eymet, half hour in another direction (great Italian restaurant) and Bordeaux is beautiful. Saint Emilion was a beautiful town, about 40 minutes west and well worth a visit. Sainte Foy La Grande is lovely. Gorgeous walk along Dordogne. Lovely restaurants Le Huit and Victor Hugo were our favourites. Market day on a Saturday well worth a potter around. All in all would thoroughly recommend staying here. We will be back!

The house is absolutely lovely with plenty of space and full of rustic farm house charm.”

A fantastic place! We came here just for a short winter break but will certainly be coming back again later in the year! The house is absolutely lovely with plenty of space and full of rustic farm house charm. The owner has done a fantastic job in maintaining the original character of the building while providing all the comfort one is looking for on a relaxed holiday. Not to forget the location itself which has plenty to offer in terms of things to see and do and is definitely worth a trip for anyone loving the French country side, culture and wine!

“Full of genuine character, spacious and just as described.”

We were 4 couples hoping to 'do the vineyard and foodie' side of the area. The accommodation was fantastic. Full of genuine character, spacious and just as described. We are all cooks and the kitchen worked really well. We had great evenings round the table into the night. The area was amazing for vineyards, markets and food experiences. I would recommend it to anyone who has a love of French culture and cuisine. I am sure it would be fantastic for a family too as there is so much to do in the area. Loved this part of France and the weather was great too!

“Très bonne communication de la part du propriétaire et facilement joignable."

Très bonne communication de la part du propriétaire et facilement joignable. La maison est très belle et chaleureuse, parfaite pour des séjours entre amis et en famille. De plus, elle est très bien équipé, que ce soit pour le ménage ou pour la cuisine. Les marchés et grandes surfaces sont à 5-10 min du logement ce qui est très pratique. Nous sommes particulièrement satisfait de notre escapade rurale.

Magic. A lovely quiet spot. The house was comfortable, spacious and well designed for easy, relaxed holiday living. All in beautiful countryside. Wonderful food and local wines on the doorstep. We very much enjoyed swimming in the Dordogne as well as one of the local lakes - great for the children. In the end we all liked it so much we have booked to go again in August! - VB Kent

"We were very well looked after by the owner who gave us lots of tips about where to go and what to see."

We spent two weeks at this lovely old French home and had a wonderful time. The house offers comfortable accommodation in a traditional style, is tastefully decorated throughout and there was plenty of room for our family of six plus granny. The kitchen was very well equipped with all mod cons but manages to retain the traditional character of the house. In addition there is a sunny garden with pop up pool. The house is situated in a quiet hamlet but is very near to a large hypermarket. Saint Foye la Grande is about a 10 minute drive and has plenty of cafes, restaurants and shops as well as the fabulous market on Saturday - not to be missed! We were very well looked after by the owner who gave us lots of tips about where to go and what to see. We particularly enjoyed the lake beach at Place de la Cadie, the Parc du Ciel - fabulous rope courses through the trees and a lovely outdoor pool, and the night market in Duras.
